China built its first overseas high-speed railway in Türkiye, which was questioned by Japan and set a new world record after completion

Today, China has not only built large-scale high-speed railway lines in China, but also exported China's high-speed railway lines to foreign countries in order to enhance its influence. China has built its first overseas high-speed railway, Yi'an high-speed railway, in Türkiye. This project was once questioned by Japan, and was considered that China does not have enough powerful technology. However, after its completion, it broke the world record and became the first high-speed railway line in Türkiye, Yichang Ankara High speed Railway: the high-speed railway from Ankara, the capital of Türkiye, to Istanbul, with a total length of 533km, and a total length of 158km in China's bid winning section, the contract amount is 1.27 billion dollars, and the design speed is 250km/h. It is the first electrified high-speed railway project undertaken by Chinese enterprises overseas.




Since its birth, the advanced equipment of high-speed railway has attracted wide attention. Many countries have valued its role in stimulating domestic economic development and hope to build their own high-speed railway lines. However, the construction of high-speed railway is very difficult. Previously, only a few western countries such as France, Japan and the United Kingdom had mastered it. China also spent a lot of resources and nearly 10 years to have its own technology, including Türkiye, Many small countries with poor strength can only seek to spend money to ask other countries to help them build their own high-speed railway. At the beginning, Türkiye launched an international bidding for the construction of the high-speed railway between Istanbul, an important city in the country, and Ankara, the capital of the country. Many countries, including China, participated in the bidding.



In the end, however, Türkiye Railway is the first international high-speed railway construction project that China has participated in. Before that, China has never reached high-speed railway related cooperation with other countries. Therefore, Japan initially thought that it was the winner but announced China's bid, which surprised Japan. In order to win the project in Türkiye, China not only provided its most advanced high-speed railway technology, but also expressed its willingness to provide early engineering loans to Türkiye, It shows a high degree of sincerity, and in terms of technology, China's high-speed rail is on a par with Japan's high-speed rail, with a certain cost advantage, so Türkiye pushed the boat along the current and chose Chinese technology.



In the actual construction of the railway, the Chinese engineering team encountered some challenges. The environment and terrain in Türkiye were quite different from those in China. At first, the technology independently developed by China was not suitable in Türkiye. The Chinese engineering team quickly began to improve on this problem. Engineers brought survey instruments to Türkiye for field exploration and measured various geological and weather parameters, A set of technical standards for high-speed railway construction suitable for Türkiye was tailored, and then the Chinese team started to build high-speed railway with this standard. It took nearly 9 years to successfully complete this high-speed railway in 2014.
