Since the implementation of the "the Belt and Road" policy, cross-border transportation on the land Silk Road Continental Bridge has become a popular transportation route for China EU trade, and the route development has become increasingly rich, more stable and economic. Recently, due to the outbreak of novel coronavirus, although China has been effectively controlled and the logistics and transportation industry has been greatly affected, Trans-Eurasia Logistics has begun to gradually return to normal operation.

Among them, the train route from China to Türkiye is a new transportation route, which adds a new choice to the trade transportation between Türkiye and China. Below is a detailed description of this route.

1、 Geographical location of Türkiye and bilateral trade between China and Turkey

Türkiye is a country spanning Europe and Asia, bordering the Black Sea to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, Syria and Iraq to the southeast, the Aegean Sea to the west, Greece and Bulgaria, and Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Iran to the east. Türkiye's geographical location and geopolitical strategic significance are extremely important, and it is a crossroad connecting Europe and Asia. Through Türkiye, it can be transported to countries around the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, or transported to northern Iraq.

According to relevant research reports, the main commodities Türkiye imports from China are electromechanical products, textiles, raw materials and chemical products. In addition, China's labor-intensive products also occupy a certain share in the Türkiye market, such as toys and furniture, ceramics and glass and other light industrial products. The products exported to China are mainly mineral products.

The main transportation routes from China to Türkiye are as follows:

1. Traditional shipping: Chinese ports - through the Strait of Malacca - through the Indian Ocean, the Red Sea, Suez Canal and the Mediterranean - transit or direct to ports in Türkiye

Most shipping companies have services for this route, such as Maersk (MSK), COSCO (COSCO), EVA (EMC), Hapag-Lloyd (HPL), CMA (CMA), etc. (This mainly refers to container cargo transportation)

2. Air transportation: major international airports in China - direct or transit - Istanbul Airport (IST),

There are many airlines with services on this route, such as Turkish Airlines TK, Emirates EK, Qatar Airways QR, Iran Air W5, etc.

3. New railway train transportation: Xi'an Inland Port - Khorgos - Aktau - Baku - Kars - Izmit

This route is newly opened and currently plans to operate on a monthly basis. In the future, additional flights will be added based on the stability of the route's cargo volume.

Of course, the above route can also be considered inversely when returning to China from Türkiye.
